We guarantee all dahlia tubers are true to variety, free of rot, and shipped with at least one viable eye. Tuber size varies by variety and does not affect performance.
Please open and inspect tubers immediately upon delivery. Any issues with rot must be reported within 5 days of delivery. Claims made after this period cannot be accepted. Some varieties show eyes later than others. A photo of the tuber with the shop's identifying markings and the invoice with the invoice number are required to accompany the request.
Tubers left in shipping box will dry out. Upon arrival, please open your package immediately or store tubers at 40–50°F and in the correct medium until planting.
Store tubers at 40–50°F until planting. Do not allow tubers to freeze. Plant after your last spring frost, spacing approximately 12 inches apart. I usually wait one week after our frost date.
Plant 6" deep using a gentle fertilizer. We use bone meal and worm castings. Cover and do not water until the dahlia burst from the ground. We water once a week unless a very hot and dry week. Then we will water twice. Drip systems seem to work the best for weekly watering. We fertilize the foliage and base every 3 weeks with an organic fertilizer like fish and seaweed blend.
Once dahlias are 12" out of the ground, we will pinch the main stalk to promote branching. Stake or corral as necessary. Cut blooms deep and long (about your elbow length) to promote longer stems.
We begin shipping tubers in early April by zone.
Refunds or replacements are limited to the purchase price of the tubers only. Shipping costs are nonrefundable. We are not responsible for losses due to weather or crop failure.
Thank you for supporting our small family farm!
